Lane Kiffin has admitted the state of Tennessee has no high school football talent. So he didn’t go that far. But he did say “we do not have a lot of great high school football players.” He’s correct, but was that really the right thing to say? After all, his employer gets its name from the state it’s located in and despite pulling recruits from outside the borders, Tennessee still gets kids from in-state. Even if you’re in North Dakota, you don’t need to publically state the lack of great high school talent in your area. But enough with the drivel that continues to come out of Kiffin’s ass mouth.

The Vols are putting up a billboard next week in South Florida. Along I-95 heading toward Fort Lauderdale. The billboard – an effort to expand Tennessee’s recruiting reach – will state “It’s Time.” Time for what, we don’t exactly know. And it will only be up until just after Labor Day because the Vols budget doesn’t allow for more time. So about five weeks. Five whole weeks. Sure doesn’t seem worth it to me, but if Kiffin is anything, he’s a nincompoop confident (sorry, I felt the sudden urge to type nincompoop for the first time).

As for helping recruiting efforts, I’ll definitely admit Kiffin is plowing forward with a full head of steam. He put together a pretty outstanding class for having such little, well, class. But a billboard in South Florida? Prove to everyone you can actually coach and you won’t leave us guessing what it’s time for. New uniforms? A lesson in tact? More wins than losses?
